According to media sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the MUDRA Yojana has empowered women by not only offering financial assistance but also creating opportunities for them to lead and grow their businesses. He remarked on the silent revolution brought about by the scheme, noting the significant shift in societal attitudes towards entrepreneurship. Mr Modi made this statement while interacting with beneficiaries of the scheme at his residence on the 10th anniversary of the scheme.
Highlighting the discipline instilled in individuals through the responsible utilisation of MUDRA loans, he remarked that the scheme provides an opportunity to build lives and careers while discouraging the misuse of funds or unproductive efforts. The Prime Minister pointed out that 33 lakh crore rupees have been disbursed to the citizens of India under the Mudra Yojana without the need for guarantees. He expressed his trust in the nation’s talented youth, who have utilised the funds effectively to generate employment and stimulate the economy.
Mr Modi also said that job creation through the MUDRA Yojana has significantly contributed to economic growth and that the earnings of common citizens have increased.
Reflecting on the government’s commitment, the Prime Minister noted that, unlike traditional approaches, his administration is actively seeking feedback after 10 years of the scheme’s implementation. He stressed the importance of reviewing the scheme’s progress by consulting beneficiaries and groups nationwide, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing necessary reforms for further success.
Emphasising the importance of encouraging others to leverage the Mudra Yojana and start their own ventures, Mr Modi urged individuals to inspire and support at least five to ten others, fostering confidence and self-reliance among them. He highlighted that 52 crore loans have been disbursed under the scheme, a monumental achievement unparalleled globally.
During his interaction with the beneficiaries, Mr Modi asserted that his government will continue focusing on ensuring a robust ecosystem where every aspiring entrepreneur has access to credit, giving them the confidence and a chance to grow. The Prime Minister noted that every MUDRA loan carries with it dignity, self-respect, and opportunity. He added that this scheme has also ensured social inclusion and economic freedom, besides financial inclusion.
During the interaction, the beneficiaries shared their entrepreneurial experiences with the Prime Minister.
The Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana provides collateral-free loans of up to 20 lakh rupees to micro and small enterprises. In the last ten years, more than 52 crore loans worth around 33 lakh crore rupees have been sanctioned under the scheme.
