Yesterday, Tokyo Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has won gold in the 2022 Kuortane Games in Finland. Neeraj defeated reigning world champion For the second time in four days, Neeraj defeated Grenada’s reigning world champion Anderson Peters. Neeraj Neeraj threw 86.69 metres to win first place in tricky and wet conditions.
The Indian javelin thrower hit the spot on his very first try at the tournament, had a foul on his second try, and bore a nasty slip in his third attempt, following which he chose to skip the remaining two attempts. With a throw of 86.64 metres, Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad took silver, while Anderson Peters took bronze with a throw of 84.75 metres. With a throw of 60.35 metres, India’s Sandeep Chaudhury finished eighth in the standings. On June 30, the Golden Boy of India will compete in the Diamond League’s Stockholm leg.
