Zimbabwe faces the biggest drought in 40 years, United Nations appeals to countries for $430 million aid

As per the media reports the United Nations has appealed for $430 million in aid for Zimbabwe. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that out of the country’s population of 15 million, 76 lakh people need humanitarian assistance for livelihood and survival. Agency official Edward Matthew Callan said that we are appealing for immediate help to 31 lakh people of the most seriously affected districts.

As per the reports even the United Nations is shocked by the worst drought in Zimbabwe in 40 years. Dust is flying in the rivers and ponds here. Farms and barns have turned into desert. The crops have dried up. Due to this, people are in great danger of starvation and famine. In view of the circumstances, the United Nations has appealed to the entire world to provide humanitarian assistance to Zimbabwe. The UN humanitarian agency said on Thursday that Zimbabwe has been hit by its worst drought in four decades and almost half of the country’s population is in urgent need of drinking water and food.
