According to media sources, Sachin Sarjerao Khilari clinched a gold medal in the men’s shot put F46 category with an Asian record distance at the World Para Athletics Championship in Kobe, Japan on Wednesday. It took India’s tally to its best-ever in the competition history.
As per the reports, India have now won 11 medals, including five golds, to better the previous high of 10 medals (3 golds, 4 silvers and 3 bronzes) from the 2023 edition in Paris. China and Brazil are first and second in the standings, at the time of writing with 45 and 27 medals having clinched 17 and 16 golds respectively. Khilari sent the iron ball to a distance of 16.30 metres, bettering his own Asian record of 16.21 metres set during the World Para Athletics Championship in Paris last year.
The morning session of day 6 ends with another gold medal to @ParalympicIndia.
