Rs 2,000 fine for wasting water in Delhi, Jal Board to deploy 200 teams

As per the media reports, Amid the issue of water shortage in the national capital, Delhi minister Atishi on Wednesday wrote to the Delhi Jal Board to keep a tab on wastage of water in the city. In a letter addressed to the CEO of the DJB, Atishi has issued instructions for the immediate deployment of 200 teams throughout Delhi. These teams will be tasked with identifying and penalizing individuals and establishments found engaging in practices that lead to the wasteful use of water resources.

According to the information, The minister has specifically targeted activities such as washing cars with pipes, allowing water tanks to overflow, and utilizing domestic water supply for construction or commercial purposes. The deployment of these teams is set to commence from 8am on Thursday morning. They will be empowered to impose a fine of Rs 2,000 on anyone caught wasting water. Furthermore, the teams will have the authority to disconnect any illegal water connections discovered on construction sites or commercial establishments.
