According to media reports, The government is providing cashless treatment to victims of road accidents. The treatment is being provided on a pilot basis in Chandigarh and Assam in collaboration with the National Health Authority. This was stated by Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in the Lok Sabha in a written reply today. He said eligible victims of road accidents are provided with health benefits packages relating to trauma and poly-trauma care at empanelled hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana. Mr Gadkari said up to a maximum of one lakh fifty thousand rupees in benefits are provided to the victims for a maximum period of seven days from the date of the accident.
