Indian nationals are advised against travelling to Bangladesh till further notice- MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs has issued an advisory on Sunday, urging all Indian citizens to avoid travel to Bangladesh until further notice. It also cautioned Indian nationals residing in the violence-affected country to remain vigilant, limit their movements, and stay in touch with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

According to media reports, approximately 80 individuals, including 14 police officers, lost their lives and hundreds were injured on Sunday during intense confrontations between protesters calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and supporters of the ruling party across Bangladesh. This situation led the authorities to suspend mobile internet services and impose a nationwide curfew for an unspecified duration.

According to MEA, in view of ongoing developments, Indian nationals are strongly advised against travelling to Bangladesh till further notice. All Indian nationals presently in Bangladesh are advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict their movements and remain in contact with the High Commission of India in Dhaka through their emergency phone numbers 8801958383679, 8801958383680, 8801937400591.
