IMD forecasts enhanced rainfall over Eastern and central parts of country for next 6 days

According to media sources, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast enhanced rainfall over Eastern and central parts of the country for the next 6 days.

The IMD said, under the influence of low-pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining West Bengal and its likely intensification, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya till 22nd of this month.

The weather department said that isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka for the next two days.

In Delhi, the IMD forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain followed by thundershowers throughout the week.

In Telangana, heavy rains lashed several parts of the state during the past 24 hours. Karimnagar district bore the brunt of relentless rain turning roads into streams and causing severe waterlogging.

Several parts witnessed heavy rains in many districts in the state. Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) recorded the highest rainfall of 172 mm at Chigurumamidi of Karimnagar district, while some other places recorded heavy rain of over 115 mm.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad Met Centre has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad and surrounding districts, including Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal for next two days.
