According to media sources, The Delhi Police has banned protests and assembly of five or more unauthorised persons in three districts of National Capital Delhi and bordering areas till Saturday, citing law and order issues. The three districts are Central Delhi, New Delhi and North Delhi.

The prohibitory order under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita has come into force since yesterday and will remain effective till the 5th of October. The order issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora states that the general atmosphere in Delhi is sensitive from a law and order point of view due to various current issues.

It said, the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Assembly elections are underway and thus, there is a need to have a continuous check on the movement of persons and vehicles from Delhi borders. It also added heavy movement of VVIPs and dignitaries on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October as one of the reasons for imposing the restrictions.
