According to media sources, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has extended his best wishes to Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who announced her official retirement from professional competition yesterday.
In a social media post, Mr Mandaviya said that Dipa’s talent has inspired millions of youth, especially our daughters, to pursue sports. He further said that Dipa’s achievements have not only made the country proud on the world stage but have also given millions of Indians moments of pride and honour.
Earlier, Dipa shared on her social media about her decision to retire from competitive gymnastics after much thought and reflection. She said, it was not an easy decision, but it feels like the right time.
