IMD Warns of Cold Wave & Dense Fog as New Year Approaches

According to media sources, Several parts of the country are expected to grapple with cold wave conditions on the New Year. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to scattered rainfall and snowfall over the Western Himalayan region during the next two to three days. According to IMD, cold day conditions are expected at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh tomorrow. The Met Department also predicted dense fog in the night and morning hours of Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura over the next two to three days. Similar Conditions are also expected in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh.

Further, squally weather with winds is expected over the Gulf of Mannar, the Comorin area, the adjoining Maldives area, along and off Sri Lanka coast and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal. The weatherman advised fishermen to not venture into these areas.
