According to media sources, President Droupadi Murmu today inaugurated the annual cultural festival, ‘Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, the President said that the festival celebrates the diverse heritage of different parts of the nation and showcases the unique traditions of various regions. President Murmu urged citizens to participate in the event and boost the confidence of the artisans. The President further added that in this edition, more than five hundred artisans and weavers will be showcasing traditional handicrafts and handlooms, as well as intricate brass and wooden crafts.
This year, the festival is focusing on South India, featuring the five states of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, along with Lakshadweep and Puducherry. She mentioned that over four hundred artists will be presenting folk and classical dance and music forms, bringing South India’s cultural essence to life. The first edition, which was held last year, focused on North-East India and received an overwhelming response, with more than 1.3 lakh visitors and over 1 crore rupees in sales for artisans. The festival will be open to the public from tomorrow until the 9th of this month. The timings are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
