Nation celebrates 79th Independence Day; PM Modi Unfurls National Flag on iconic Red Fort

According to media sources, The Nation celebrates its 79th Independence Day today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lead the Independence Day celebrations from the iconic Red Fort in Delhi and hoisted the National Flag.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the iconic monument, Mr Modi saluted the brave soldiers of Operation Sindoor saying that the Operation is a powerful testament to the valour and precision of country’s armed forces. He said, the government gave the Armed Forces a free hand, allowing them to strategise, set the target, and decide the timing.

Prime Minister said, the country’s brave soldiers gave the enemies a befitting reply, beyond their imagination. He highlighted that Indian Armed forces attacked hundreds of kilometres into enemy territory in Pakistan and turned terrorist headquarters to dust.

He said, every Indian was angered by the horrors perpetrated by terrorists in Pahalgam and Operation Sindoor is the expression of their anger. Mr Modi said that India has now decided, blood and water will not flow together. Mr Modi mentioned the people of the country have now realised that the Indus Waters Treaty was unjust.

The Prime Minister said that India will no longer tolerate nuclear blackmail.

Prime Minister Modi said, This Independence Day is a festival of hope and aspirations. He said, this occassion is about the resolve of 140 crore Indians and the pride of the country’s shared achievements. Mr Modi said that the nation is continuously strengthening the spirit of unity. He said, for the past 75 years, the Constitution of India has been a beacon of light and guiding the people on their path.

Prime Minister Modi said that the country is also celebrating the 125th anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who sacrifice his life for the Constitution of India. He said, his government abrogated Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir to fulfil the vision of One Nation, One Constitution, the county gave him a true tribute.

Prime Minister said, in the past few days, the country faced natural disasters, landslides, cloudbursts, and many other calamities. He said, State and central government are working together with full strength on rescue operations, relief efforts, and rehabilitation work.

Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, the Prime Minister was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth. Thereafter, the Prime Minister received the Guard of Honour.

As soon as the National Flag was hoisted by Prime Minister Modi, flower petals were showered at the venue by two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force – one trooping the national flag and the other trooping a flag depicting Operation Sindoor.

Earlier, before reaching Red Fort, Mr Modi visited Rajghat and paid tributes to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

Along with the rest of the nation, Arunachal Pradesh is all set to celebrate the 79th Independence Day today. Preparations have been completed across the state under tight security arrangements.

The main state-level function will take place at IG Park, Itanagar, where Chief Minister Pema Khandu will hoist the National Flag and take the salute from the ceremonial march past.
