India Leads in Asian Shooting Championship with 29 Golds and Over 50 Medals

According to media sources, India has crossed the 50-medal mark and is leading the medal tally at the ongoing 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan.

In the women’s trap event, Neeru Dhanda won gold with 43 hits, followed by Qatar’s Ray Bassil, who won silver and India’s Aashima Ahlawa, who secured bronze. Neeru and Aashima also helped India win team gold with Preeti Rajak, finishing ahead of China and Kuwait.

India’s junior women swept the 25m pistol podium as Payal Khatri took gold, Naamya Kapoor silver, and Tejaswini bronze. The team, including Riya Shirish Thatte, also won silver behind Korea. In the men’s trap event, Bhowneesh Mendiratta won silver just behind China’s Qi Ying.

In the senior women’s 25m pistol, Manu Bhaker finished fourth and Esha Singh sixth. They teamed up with Simranpreet Kaur Brar to win bronze in the team event. With three days of competition remaining, India leads the medal standings with 29 gold, 11 silver, and 14 bronze medals.
