According to media sources, The Sanchar Saathi initiative of the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) has crossed a significant milestone by facilitating the recovery of over 6 lakhs lost and stolen mobile handsets. With this achievement, the Ministry of Communication has marked a significant outcome, reinforcing the citizens’ trust in digital Governance. The increasing recovery rates demonstrate the platform’s growing effectiveness and increased collaboration between DoT and State police.
The Ministry, in a statement, said that the Sanchar Saathi, built on the theme of digital by design, has contributed significantly to combating mobile theft. It added that this facility is helping recover one phone per minute. Over the past eight months, this advanced AI-powered platform has shown a consistent growth of 61 per cent in the recovery rate. The Ministry further appealed to citizens to report lost or stolen mobile handsets on the Sanchar Saathi portal and the Mobile App, ensuring digital safety.
