According to media sources, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully demonstrated Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) technology from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off Odisha coast at around 1045 hrs on February 3, 2026. This places India in an elite league of nations with technology enabling long-range air-to-air missiles for tactical edge over adversaries. All subsystems including Nozzle-less Booster, SFDR motor, and Fuel Flow Controller performed as expected after ground booster propulsion to desired Mach Number.
According to media reports, flight performance was confirmed by multiple tracking instruments deployed by ITR along Bay of Bengal coast. The launch was monitored by senior DRDO scientists from Defence Research & Development Laboratory, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, Research Centre Imarat, and ITR. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended DRDO and industry while DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat congratulated all teams involved.
