30th Inter-Company Coal India Athletics Competition started at NCL

New Delhi: On Sunday, November 6, 2022, the 30th Inter-Company Coal India Athletics Competition started at the Northern Coalfields Limited Stadium located in the Nigahi area. More than 300 participants of 8 subsidiaries of Coal India and Singareni Collieries Company Limited are participating in this 2-day event of sports. The participants also include players of international and national level.

In the grand opening ceremony held on Sunday, CMD NCL Shri Bhola Singh was the chief guest and Director (Technical/Operations), Dr. Anindya Sinha, Director (Personnel) Shri Manish Kumar and Director (Finance) Shri Rajneesh Narayan, JCC member of NCL, Members of Coal India Welfare Board, General Managers of all regions, Heads of Departments Headquarters, members of NCL Sports Promotion Board, other officers-employees and a large number of spectators were present.

Addressing the inaugural function of Coal India Athletics Meet, CMD NCL Shri Bhola Singh congratulated the players participating in the competition and said that life is incomplete without sports. He also called upon the players to perform at their best. In his address, he said that healthy youth plays an important role in the development of the country.

In the two-day competition, various events of the athletics category like running, long jump, high jump, good throw, shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, hurdle race etc. will be organized in women’s and men’s sections. The tournament formally started with lighting the torch, march past and taking an oath to the players to play according to rules and discipline. In athletics meet, 17 competitions will be organized in the women’s category and 21 in the men’s category.

An exhibition highlighting the history of the Coal India Athletics Meet has also been put up during the program, which remains the center of attraction for visitors.

In the first event of the competition, 1500 meters race was held for men and women, in which NCL got first, CCL second, and ECL third in the men’s section. In the women’s category, SECL got first, NCL got second, and ECL got the third position. The winners were honoured with medals and prizes by the guests present in the program.
