Agrivoltaic farming focuses on simultaneous use of land for agriculture & solar energy

According to media sources, The Seventh Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) culminated today in New Delhi. A visit to a farm site at Najafgarh was organized on the concluding day. During the site visit, the practical implementation of agrivoltaic systems was showcased to the delegates of various countries. Agrivoltaic farming primarily focuses on the simultaneous use of land for both agriculture and solar energy generation. Speaking to Akashvani News, Uganda’s Minister of State for Energy, Okaasai Opolot called India an innovative country and said that he is impressed by the practice of growing crops on the same land with solar panels.

Another delegate from the Democratic Republic of Congo expressed happiness at attending the ISA assembly and said that he is very impressed by the way energy is being utilized.

The seventh session of the ISA was held in New Delhi under the presidency of India and the co-presidency of France. Ministers, mission heads and delegates from 120 Member and Signatory Countries, along with partner organizations and stakeholders, attended the Assembly. The major focus of the three-day event was on initiatives to improve energy access, security, and transition. The alliance works with governments to improve energy access and security worldwide and promotes solar power as a sustainable transition to a carbon-neutral future.
