Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari twitted “Under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, we are currently undertaking the development of a 17.5 Km stretch, starting from Bangarpet to Bethamangala section of the Bangalore-Chennai Expressway in the state of Karnataka. This is a controlled-access expressway that aims to connect the cities of Bangalore and Chennai. The project is being executed on the Hybrid Annuity Mode, with an estimated cost of ₹863 Cr.
An innovative approach is being adopted on this project by utilizing Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag as an alternative material. This measure is intended to enhance the sustainability of road construction and maintenance, thereby contributing to environmentally conscious practices.
Once completed, this project is expected to bring numerous benefits to the public. Apart from improving mobility between the two cities, it will create employment opportunities and encourage entrepreneurship in the region. The highway’s access-controlled nature will ensure greater safety, comfort, and convenience for all users, leading to reduced vehicle operating costs.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, we are committed to achieving a seamless, hassle-free, and ecologically responsible mobility system across the nation.”
