According to media sources, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who holds the Finance Department, today presented the state Budget of 3 lakh 17 thousand crore rupees for the Financial Year 2025-26 in the state assembly. The budget size is more than 38 thousand 169 crore rupees compared to the corresponding current year budget of 2024-25. Like previous budgets, the highest allocation of 60,000 crore rupees has been made for the education sector, followed by 22 thousand 820 crore rupees for Health and 16 thousand 94 crore rupees for Rural Development. Mr. Choudhary, announced several women and industry-centric initiatives in the budget. The Deputy Chief Minister said pink toilets and pink buses will be rolled out in several cities, and for the marriage of poor girls, Kanya Vivah Mandap will be set up in every gram panchayat. He also announced a new initiative, Gym On Wheel, for women on an experimental basis. He added that Mahila Haat will be opened on a pilot basis in Patna, and vending spots will be earmarked for women at vending zones in other parts of the state. This is the last budget by the ruling Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, as the state will go to the polls later this year.
