This comes amid an ongoing diplomatic standoff between India and Canada, which has resulted in deteriorated ties between the nations.
Sharing glimpses of the event on social media platform ‘X’, Canada PM Trudeau wrote, “Later this week, people will celebrate Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas- both of which symbolize the light we all need more of. To everyone at yesterday’s event on Parliament Hill: I hope the celebrations bring you optimism for the year ahead. Happy Diwali! Happy Bandi Chhor Divas!”
