According to media sources, A central inter-ministerial team will visit the flood-affected districts of Krishna, NTR, Guntur, and other areas in Andhra Pradesh today. The team led by Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, Additional Secretary for Disaster Management in the Union Home Ministry, will inspect the damage caused by the floods and speak directly with the victims. Under the influence of cyclonic depression over the Bay of Bengal, rainfall has lashed several districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh, including NTR, Krishna, and Eluru Districts. IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in many districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh over the next 48 hours. Vijayawada and parts of NTR districts that are recovering from the flood impact have received fresh rainfall since early this morning.
The state government agencies have informed that the fresh rainfall is unlikely to have a major impact on the flood situation in Vijayawada, as two out of three breaches in the Budameru Canal have already been plugged and work is in progress to plug the third one. A total of 26 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed to assist in the flood-affected areas. These teams are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations in coordination with central and state agencies. So far, the NDRF has rescued 319 people and evacuated approximately 12,000 individuals. Relief supplies and medical assistance are being provided to those in need in the flood-hit regions.
