Centre to start retail sale of onion at subsidised rate of Rs 35/kg in Delhi-NCR

According to media sources, The Centre will start retail sales of onions at a subsidised rate of 35 rupees per kilogramme through mobile vans and NCCF retail shops in Delhi and the National Capital Region. Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi will launch the retail sale of onion from Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi today. The market intervention is aimed at improving local supplies and curbing rising prices of onions. The initiative aims to benefit consumers by providing them with a more affordable option for this essential commodity. The sale through mobile vans will be undertaken at 38 locations, including Krishi Bhawan, the NCUI complex, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Patel Chowk Metro Station, CGO, and parts of Noida and Ghaziabad.
