Coal India to ramp up production; issues LoAs for seven coal projects

New Delhi: India’s central public sector undertaking and largest coal producer in the world, Coal India Limited (CIL) on Wednesday, December 14 mentioned that the company have issued orders for seven coal projects to be developed by mine developer and operators (MDOs).

The main motive behind this is engaging MDOs through open global tenders and ramping up domestic coal production.

In a statement, the PSU mentioned, “Coal India Limited (CIL) has issued letters of acceptance for seven coal projects to be pursued through the engagement of Mine Developer and Operators,” the maharatna firm said in a statement.

Moreover, these projects have a production capacity of close to 100 million tonnes per year, Cumulatively” it said.

There are three projects that belong to the CIL arm Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) and two such projects belong to Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL). Also, South Eastern Coalfields Ltd and Eastern Coalfield Ltd account for a solitary project each.
