According to the media sources, 125 prisoners in Delhi’s Tihar jail have been found HIV positive and 200 prisoners have been detected with Syphilis.
There are about 14,000 prisoners in the jail, among them medical screening of about 10,500 prisoners has been done so far.
Periodic medical screenings are conducted for prisoners in Tihar Jail. Following the appointment of the new Director General, Satish Golcha, a medical examination of 10,500 prisoners was carried out in May and June. HIV tests were done on 10,500 prisoners, out of which 125 prisoners were found HIV positive. That is, a fatal disease like AIDS was found in 125 prisoners.
