According to media sources, The Delhi-NCR has recorded best-ever Air Quality Index (AQI) in the last eight year, between January to August this year. The Delhi-NCR region recorded an AQI average of one hundred and seventy two this year as against one hundred and eighty seven, the previous year in the January-August period. Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry said, the AQI plunged to one hundred and fourty seven only in 2020, the year of Covid-19 lockdown.
Aided by favourable meteorological conditions and efforts by different stakeholders, the average AQI of Delhi was recorded at 89 for the month of August. The January to August period in 2025 did not witness even a single day with average AQI more than 400.
