According to media sources, Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh stated that India is ready to deepen engagement with Rwanda in emerging technologies, innovation ecosystems, and next-generation sectors including AI, biotechnology, and nuclear energy. He made these remarks during a bilateral meeting with Rwanda’s Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, in New Delhi. Dr Singh noted that India’s science and technology collaboration with African nations has expanded steadily under the India-Africa Forum Summit framework.
According to media reports, Dr Singh praised Rwanda as the first country to implement the Technology Transfer Programme for Africa and commended the India-Rwanda Innovation Growth Programme as a model for continental collaborations. He highlighted India’s third-largest global startup ecosystem driving economic growth and employment. The Rwandan delegation expressed interest in strengthening ties in AI, health technologies, life sciences, energy, and innovation hubs like Kigali Innovation City, with discussions on connecting Indian and Rwandan innovation hubs for mentoring, training, and joint research. Both sides anticipate science, technology, and innovation as key pillars in their partnership, with a draft MoU shared via the Ministry of External Affairs.
