According to media sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the government is moving ahead with the twin target of achieving the growth of the agriculture sector and rural prosperity. Addressing a Post-Budget Webinar on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity today virtually, Mr Modi said that India’s resolve to move towards the goal of a developed India is very clear. He said we are working together towards building an India where farmers become prosperous and empowered. Mr Modi said that the government’s effort is to ensure no farmer is left behind and to advance every farmer. He said, that considering agriculture as the first engine of development, the government has accorded farmers a place of pride. Mr Modi highlighted that under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, nearly 3.75 lakh crore rupees have been provided to to farmers so far. He emphasized that the annual financial assistance of six thousand rupees under the scheme is strengthening the rural economy.
The Prime Minister said that the government has announced ‘PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ in the Union Budget under which focus will be on the development of 100 districts with the lowest agricultural productivity in the country. He said that today, agricultural production is at record levels. Mr Modi added that in the past 10 years, production has increased from 265 million tonnes to over 330 million tonnes. He said that Horticulture production has exceeded 350 million tonnes. Mr Modi said that this has become possible through the Government’s initiatives like the ‘Beej Se Bazar Tak’ program.
The Prime Minister underscored that efforts in recent years have increased the country’s pulse production He said, however, 20 percent of domestic consumption still relies on imports, necessitating an increase in pulse production. Mr Modi added that to boost pulse production, it is essential to maintain the supply of advanced seeds and promote hybrid varieties.
Mr Modi highlighted that today people have become much more aware about nutrition. He added that in view of the increasing demand for horticulture, dairy and fishery products, a lot of investment has been made in these sectors. The Prime Minister also underscored that several programs are being implemented to increase the production of fruits and vegetables along with the formation of Makhana Board has also been announced in Bihar.
Prime Minister Modi said that Government is committed to making the rural economy prosper. He s highlighted that under the PM Awas Yojana-Gramin, crores of poor people are being provided with homes, and the Swamitva Yojana has given property owners ‘Record of Rights.
Mr Modi emphasized that the announcements for the rural prosperity and development programs in this year’s Union budget, have created numerous new employment opportunities. Investments. The Prime Minister urged everyone to discuss how to make the ongoing schemes more effective. He also urged all the stakeholders involved to work in unison to achieve the targets of the budget.
