According to media sources, Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has said that the government has amended the Indian laws to maintain the dignity and safety of women in the country. He added that with the Artificial Intelligence (AI) features, several crimes have risen against women but the government is taking several major steps to crack down on it.
Mr Meghwal said this while addressing the workshop on Cyber Laws Relating to Women and Cyber Awareness Programme at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today. The Minister urged women to be vigilant during cyber activity and register complaints immediately if any incident occurred. The Workshop organised by the National Commission for Women (NCW), aims to discuss over two hundred key reforms for strengthening Cyber laws for Women.
Addressing the gathering NCW Chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar said that with the digital world deeply woven into human’s lives, ensuring women’s safety online is more critical than ever. She added that many women suffer cyber crimes in silence due to stigma or lack of legal protection. NCW chairman highlighted that the commission has taken a comprehensive review of all cyber laws through its six regional consultations so far.
