According to media sources, Union Minister for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, said that the government is committed to the development of electronics manufacturing in the country. He made this statement during the inauguration of the 25th meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators Council in New Delhi today. The minister also said that around 99.3 percent of the country’s mobile requirements are manufactured within India.
Speaking about the Regulators Council, Mr. Scindia said that the meeting will provide an opportunity for regulators across South Asian countries to meet, congregate, and come up with a confluence of ideas. Speaking to Akashvani, Secretary-General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity, Masanori Kondo, said that the main agenda of the three-day meeting is to discuss experiences and policy issues among South Asian countries. Speaking to the media, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti informed that the major issues of digital inclusion and the digital divide will be discussed.
