According to media sources, On World Obesity Day today, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the Healthy Gujarat, Obesity-free Gujarat campaign in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Mr Patel said as part of the campaign, the state government will organize various programs throughout the year to promote awareness and encourage citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles. The initiative aims to address the growing issue of obesity among citizens due to modern sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy eating habits.
According to the state health department statistics, the obesity rate in the state is 22.6 per cent among women and 19.9 per cent among men.
