Koi… Mil Gaya’ won several accolades at the leading film awards in the year 2003. The film spawned a franchise, beginning with a sequel titled Krrish, which was released in 2006, followed by Krrish 3 in 2013.
Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta starrer ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ will clock 20 years on August 8. To mark the occasion, the makers will re-release the movie in at least 30 cities on August 4.
The update has left fans nostalgic. “Wow…can’t wait to relive my childhood memories,” a social media user commented. “Could not be happier. Love this film,” another one wrote. Preity Zinta and Rekha also starred in the film. Preity essayed the role of Hrithik’s love interest and veteran actress Rekha was featured as Hrithik’s mother.
Rakesh Roshan added, ‘I keep seeing Jaadoo being spoken about every time there’s a lot of ‘Dhoop’ during summers or an alleged alien spotting across the world or a mysterious sonic boom heard from the sky. For any film to pass the test of time, it needs to have a strong emotional bond with its audience. I think Koi.. Mil Gaya connected with the kids, who have now grown up, some having children of their own today. Emotions conveyed through memorable dialogues like ‘Mere papa se seekh kar aaya hoon’, ‘Mujhe kuch dikhai nahi de raha hai maa’, ‘Haila Jaadoo’ etc. are etched in the memory and I see them being used in situations even today, especially in memes.’
