According to media sources, In Assam, the main function of Independence Day was held at the Veterinary Play Ground in Guwahati. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma hoisted the tri-colour and took the salute from the parade. Addressing the program, he said that Assam is one of the three fastest-developing states in the country.
He said that the law and order situation significantly improved in the State as there is no violence during the four and half years of his government and the youths now are working for the development of the State.
The Chief Minister informed that more than 11 thousand surrendered militants have been rehabilitated and Government jobs have been provided to over one lakh 24 thousand youths in a transparent manner.
Mr. Sarma thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for all round support to his government.
He said that several major development projects materialised in the State, including bridges over the river Brahmaputra, semi conductor park, an ethanol production unit and the Guwahati ring road.
More than 1500 km of rail road has been electrified, and new terminal of Gopinath Bordoloi Airport of Guwahati will be inaugurated in December this year.
The Chief Minister also said that his government is committed to stopping the menace of child marriage in the state by next year.
Mr Sarma said that the recognition of Chraideo Moidams by UNESCO as a World Heritage site and the recognition of Assamese as a Classical language are big achievements of his government.
He said that first-of-its-kind approach in the country, his government started the Co-district concept across the State for governance reform and taking governance to the grassroots levels. At present, 49 co-districts have been operational in the state and the government plans to establish a total of 78 co-districts across Assam.
On the occasion of Independence Day, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the National Flag and took the salute of the parade at the Police Parade Ground in Raipur.
Addressing the gathering, he urged the people of the state to adopt indigenous products in the interest of the nation.He announced the launch of the Mukhyamantri Nagar Utthan Yojana to improve urban infrastructure in the state.
Mr Saoi also announced the introduction of the Police Commissionerate system in Raipur, as well as the commencement of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Bus Seva Yojana in Bastar and Sarguja divisions.
In Madhya Pradesh, the state level function of Independence Day was organized in Bhopal where Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav hoisted the national flag. Governor Mangu Bhai Patel hoisted the tricolor in Pachmarhi.
Cabinet ministers of the state and district collectors hoisted the flag at various district headquarters.
In his address, the Chief Minister said that 55 lakh hectares of area is being irrigated in the state. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country where the project to link rivers has been started.
He said that the state stood second in the country by building 38 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Also, more than 8 lakh urban families have also been provided with concrete houses.
Dr. Yadav said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Madhya Pradesh is the leading state to implement the National Education Policy 2020.
Independence Day was also celebrated in all district headquarters, where Ministers and MLAs hoisted the National Flag.
In Bihar, the 79th Independence Day is being celebrated with full patriotic feelings. The main state level function was held historical Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hoisted the national flag.
Addressing the people, he announced that his government is focused on jobs and employment to youths and in next five years one crore jobs and employment opportunities will be given to the youths.
The Chief Minister announced reduction of fees for preliminary stage of competitive examinations organised by the Bihar Public Service Commission and other exam holding bodies to nominal 100 rupees. He also announced fees waiver to candidates, who appear in mains examination of state competition.
Mr Kumar enumerated several achievements of his government in health, education, infrastructure law and order.
The Chief Minister said seven new medical colleges will be set up in Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Sheohar, Arwal, Rohtas, Katihar and Kishanganj.
He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government for providing financial assistance and other help under special packages for infrastructure development, flood mitigation and agriculture for Bihar.
The 79th Independence Day is being celebrated across Odisha with much enthusiasm. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hoisted the National Flag at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar during the state-level celebrations this morning and took salute of the parade.
In his address, Mr Majhi highlighted achievements of his government and outlined the roadmap for the state development. He said the state government has been working to strengthen education, health care, and infrastructure, with special focus on welfare measures for senior citizens.
The Chief Minister said, industrialisation across all districts of Odisha remains a priority, with special emphasis on setting up pharmaceutical companies to make the state a pharma hub.
Mr Majhi also said, plans are in place to empower youth through various schemes.
In Punjab, the 79th Independence Day is being celebrated with full gaiety and fervour. The state-level function was held at Faridkot, where Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hoisted the National Flag.
The Cabinet ministers of the state hoisted the flag at various district headquarters. Punjab Governor and Administrator Union Territory Chandigarh Gulab Chand Kataria hoisted the tricolor in Chandigarh.
The Border Security Force, the first line of defence, celebrated the Independence Day at all its units in Punjab. Director General of the BSF, Daljeet Singh Chawdhary hoisted the National Flag at its base in Khasa, Amritsar.
Whereas, the flag hoisting ceremony was also held at Attari border where DIG of BSF, SS Chandel hoisted the tricolor.
