In an exclusive interview with India Today, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said “The Modi government is perceived as more authentically Indian. These are people deeply rooted in their culture, traditions, belief and are proud of it. They are what they seem to be. India, under Modi, is proud to be Bharat!”

In this interview he said, “PM Modi has a very strong belief in the philosophy of ‘No one left behind’ Everything we have done over the last 10 years, a large part of it is ensuring food, health, financial inclusion, housing… the whole idea is of an inclusive India where people get their fair share of support. From the very beginning PM Modi has had the view that we need to go the extra mile where Africa is concerned.”

Dr. Jaishankar said “PM Modi wrote to the other 19 leaders, saying that in his view the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 should be done. I give him that credit that in a way he forced the issue and put it on the table. PM Modi’s sense of social justice is much stronger!”

Dr. Jaishankar also said “Today, we have actually brought the focus on the global south. We have shown the spotlight on the fact that sustainable development goals are fallen behind. This G20 was very powerful in terms of highlighting the digital public infrastructure.
