According to media sources, Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated today that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a 360-degree transformation in women’s empowerment has been witnessed in the last 11 years, with women getting participation so far at unexplored fields like admission in Sainik Schools and the National Defence Academy.
Addressing a conference in Patna on the theme of “Bihar’s Development through Women’s Participation,” Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Mr. Singh said that the Prime Minister has moved beyond women’s participation to resolve for women-led development.
He noted that providing assignments to women on the battlefield reflects the Prime Minister’s visionary approach.
Mr. Singh highlighted that under his ministry, women have played a significant role in major ISRO missions. He mentioned that women scientists led Chandrayaan-3 and the Aditya mission for studying the Sun.
He also pointed out that for the first time in the 85-year history of CSIR, a woman has been appointed as its Director-General, signifying a change in mindset.
He stated that schemes like Ujjwala, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), and MUDRA Yojana were designed with women in mind. The Union Minister noted that 60 percent of MUDRA Yojana beneficiaries, who availed loans without collateral, are women.
Mr. Singh added that the promotion of Self Help Group is amazing as the country is going to achieve the figure of 3 crore of Lakhpati Didis via this initiative.
The Union Minister informed that over 50 percent of the 1.7 lakh startups in the country, many operating in tier -2 and tier 3 or smaller cities, are led by women, generating around 17 lakh employment opportunities.
Mr. Singh also praised the Nitish government’s decisions in Bihar to provide reservations for women in Panchayati Raj institutions, urban local bodies, and government jobs which has changed the socio-economic scenario in Bihar.
