India’s first regional rapid train, Namo Bharat completes 1 year of operations

According to media sources, India’s first Regional Rapid Train Namo Bharat has completed one year of its operations today. On the occasion, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal took a ride on the Namo Bharat train and visited key stations along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. During the visit, the minister interacted with the women train operators and passengers and knew their experiences with the Namo Bharat service.

Appreciating the Namo Bharat train services, Mr Manohar Lal said that Namo Bharat trains have significantly transformed commuting across Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, and the surrounding region. Over 40 lakh passengers have travelled in the Namo Bharat Trains in the first year of its operation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 17-kilometer Priority Section of RRTS on 20th October last year. Currently, Namo Bharat Train services are being operated on a 42-kilometre stretch covering nine stations, including Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South.
