ISRO-NASA Collaborative Satellite NISAR launched successfully from Sriharikota

According to Media Sources, The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite was successfully launched this evening. Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO, in social media platform ‘X’ said that the launch took place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh aboard GSLV-F16 rocket.

As Per Media Sources, NISAR is a joint mission between NASA and ISRO aimed at studying Earth’s land and ice surfaces. It is an L and S-band, global, microwave imaging mission, with capability to acquire fully polarimetric and interferometric data. The unique dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar of NISAR provides high resolution and large swath imagery. NISAR will image the global land and ice-covered surfaces, including islands, sea-ice and selected oceans every 12 days.
