According to media sources, All arrangements are in place for the third and final phase of voting for the Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place for smooth, peaceful and incident free polling in forty Assembly constituencies spread over 7 districts.
The polling will begin at 7 AM and will conclude at 6 PM. All polling stations are ensured with minimum basic facilities, while more than 20 thousand polling staff have been put on duty.
Five thousand and sixty polling stations have been established across seven districts of Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora in Kashmir Division and Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts in Jammu Division. Our correspondent reports that by last evening, men and machinery reached their respective polling stations.
More than 39 lakh voters will decide the fate of 415 candidates in this phase. Prominent candidates in the fray are former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, Basharat Bukhari, Sajad Gani Lone and Nasir Aslam Wani in Kashmir Division and Davinder Sing Rana, Choudhary Lal Singh and Raman Bhalla in Jammu Division.
Polling for the first two phases in the Union Territory was held on the 18th and 25th of September. In the first phase over 61 per cent and in the second phase, 57 per cent polling was recorded. The counting for all the phases will be held on the 8th of this month along with Haryana.
