According to media sources, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has appealed to all political parties to formulate an internal code of conduct for members to ensure the smooth functioning of legislatures.
Addressing the inaugural session of the 85th Session of the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC) at Patna, Mr. Birla expressed concern over the deterioration of decorum in legislatures and the decline in the number of sittings of legislative bodies. He exhorted presiding officers to promote and adopt the use of digital technology, AI, and social media in the workings of legislatures.
Mentioning the use and benefits of the National e-Vidhan application, the Speaker said all legislative bodies are on a faster path, and the One Nation, One Legislative Platform will be a reality by 2025. Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh, Chairman of the Bihar Legislative Council Awadhesh Narayan Singh, Speaker of the Bihar Assembly Nand Kishore Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister Samarat Choudhary, and Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar also present on the occasion. The two-day conference will conclude tomorrow with an address by Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Around three hundred delegates are attending the 85th AIPOC.
