According to media sources, In Maharashtra, Continuous Heavy rainfall has triggered a flood situation in Latur and Nanded districts of Marathwada, severely disrupting normal life and prompting urgent relief measures. In Latur district, out of 60 revenue circles, 29 have recorded excessive rainfall. Rising water levels in rivers and streams have submerged roads and bridges, leading to the closure of nearly 49 roads. For the safety of students, District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge has announced a holiday today for all schools in the district.
In Nanded district, incessant rainfall since early Friday morning has caused a serious flood situation. Several talukas including Naigaon, Biloli, Mukhed, Deglur, Loha, Kandhar, and Nanded were severely affected, with floodwaters entering numerous houses. Key routes such as Nanded-Hyderabad, Deglur-Udgir, and Narsi-Biloli have been closed due to inundation. Over 3,000 citizens from Deglur, Naigaon, and Mukhed talukas have been evacuated to safer places. District authorities have also declared a holiday for all schools today.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for both Latur and Nanded districts. Meanwhile, the district administrations have sought the assistance of the Indian Army to strengthen ongoing rescue and relief operations.
