According to Media Sources, The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai has neutralized an interstate drug syndicate operating from Ulhasnagar in Thane district and arrested six persons on Saturday. According to the officials, 75 kg of Ganja and 4,800 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup (CBCS) were seized during the operation.
As Per Media Sources, The officials said that the operation was launched targeting an interstate syndicate involved in the illicit distribution of multiple drugs. On August 8, 2024, following a tip-off, the team intercepted a consignment of 4,800 CBCS bottles at a courier office in Ulhasnagar. The first suspect, Vinod P, was apprehended at the scene, they said. During subsequent interrogations, Vinod revealed details about other members of the syndicate. Acting on this information, NCB officials apprehended associates Manish P, Akash P, Raj K, Mohanish S, and Sunny J on August 9, 2024, in the Bhiwandi area. The officials seized 75 kg of Ganja, concealed in travel bags, trolley bags, and gunny bags, during the search. Additionally, Rs 1,18,860 in cash, believed to be proceeds from previous drug sales, was seized. All six individuals have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigation into the matter is underway, the officials added.
