According to media sources, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya today said that over 11 lakh aspirants got jobs in the last 16 months under the Rozgar Mela. Replying to a supplementary question in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister said that, as per the report of the RBI, more than 17 crore youths have got employment in the last decade. He said that only three crores of employment opportunities were created during the 10 years of the UPA government. Mr. Mandavia further said that 2 lakh crore rupees have been allocated under Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana for the creation of more than 4 crore jobs in the next five years.
Mr. Mandaviya said that during the UPA government, job creation in the agricultural sector was at minus 16 per cent, which has increased to 19 per cent under the NDA government. In the manufacturing sector, job creation stood at 6 per cent between 2004 and 2014, while it rose to 15 per cent in the last decade. The Minister said that in the services sector, job creation increased to 36 per cent under the NDA government, compared to 25 per cent during the UPA era. The Minister also noted that the unemployment rate has dropped to 3.2 per cent, significantly lower than the rates seen in many developed countries.
