Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared Modhera in Gujarat’s Mehsana district as India’s first 24×7 solar-powered village. PM Modi offered prayers at Modheshwari goddess Temple at Modhera. He also witnessed the beautiful 3d projection mapping and heritage light and sound show at iconic Modhera Sun temple. Addressing a rally after launching a new solar energy project, Prime Minister said Modhera was well known for the Sun temple, now it will also be known as solar-powered village.
He said now solar energy will empower New India to achieve its streamlined target and People will install solar panels in their homes and farmers will generate electricity from their farms. The Prime Minister asserted that by leveraging the abundant natural resources and by propelling renewable energy initiatives, we should aim to become an energy provider to the world. PM Modi said in order to realise the dream of self-sufficient India of 21st century, we need to encourage the efforts associated with energy needs. PM Modi said, the time has changed now, when the government is buying additional power from people and people are earning extra income. Regarding development programme in the state, He said the arid region of north Gujarat was considered backward twenty years ago which is now marching ahead on the path of development today with the development of agriculture, education, health care.
PM Modi who arrived on a three-day visit to Gujarat today, dedicated and laid the foundation stone for various projects worth more than 3 thousand crore rupees at Delwada village near Modhera in Mahesana district of Gujarat. The 80 crore rupees project in Modhera is the first solar-powered village is a joint effort by the central and state governments. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has also been installed at nearby Sajjanpura village for the storage of solar power that can be utilised during night.
