PM Modi lauds Indian soldiers for precision strikes using indigenous weapons & technology to destroy terror bases

According to media sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today stated that Operation Sindoor has lent a new confidence and enthusiasm to the fight against terrorism across the world. Addressing the nation in his Mann Ki Baat programme on Akashvani, Mr Modi praised the valour displayed by armed forces during Operation Sindoor. He lauded the precision and accuracy with which armed forces destroyed the terrorist hideouts across the border. He said the whole country is united against terrorism today and filled with resolve to end it.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Operation Sindoor is not just a military mission, but a picture of nation’s resolve and courage. He added that this has infused the whole country with a sense of patriotism, and has painted it in the hues of the tricolour.

Mr Modi noted that Tiranga Yatras were organised in many cities, villages and small towns of the country. Thousands of people came out holding the tricolour to honour the country’s armed forces. In many cities, large number of youth came together as Civil Defence Volunteers. He said that poems were being written on social media, and children were creating paintings that carried great messages hidden in them. Prime Minister recalled his recent visit to Bikaner, where children had gifted one such painting to him. He also took note of the interesting fact that children born during this period have been named ‘Sindoor’ in Katihar in Bihar, Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh, and many other cities.

The Prime Minister stressed that Indian soldiers destroyed terror bases with indomitable courage, with weapons, equipment and technology made in India. He said this also included the resolve of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. Mr Modi credited the hard work of engineers and technicians for this victory. He noted that after this campaign, a renewed energy is visible regarding ‘Vocal for Local’ in the whole country.

Prime Minister found it heart touching that parents have pledged to buy only Made in India toys for their children. Some families have taken the pledge to spend their vacations in the country. Many young people have resolved to ‘Wed in India’ and give gifts made by Indian artisans.

Mr Modi highlighted that this public participation is the real strength of India. He urged everyone to accord priority to products made in the country. He opined that this is not just a matter of economic self-reliance, but participation in nation building.

In today’s episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister shared that a bus has reached Gadchiroli’s Katejhari village for the first time. He said that people welcomed the bus by playing Dhol-Nagara and were overjoyed upon seeing the bus. Mr Modi said a bus could never ply to the village earlier, as this village was affected by Maoist violence. He expressed satisfaction that this change in Katejhari is being felt in the surrounding region and  the situation is becoming normal rapidly. Prime Minister added that on account of the collective fight against Maoism, basic facilities have started reaching such areas.

The Prime Minister said the children in Chhattisgarh’s Maoist-affected areas are passionate about science. Saying that they are also doing great in sports, Mr Modi said such efforts reflect the courage of people living in these areas. He said people have chosen the path of improving their lives amidst challenges.

The Prime Minister expressed happiness that the results of Dantewada district in the 10th and 12th standard examinations have been excellent. Dantewada district topped the 10th standard results and secured the sixth position in Chhattisgarh in the 12th standard examination. Mr Modi expressed pride that the flag of education is flying high in Dantewada, where Maoism was once at its peak.

The Prime Minister was pleased to share with listeners of Mann Ki Baat that the population of lions in Gir, Gujarat has increased from 674 to 891 in just five years. He said  the number of lions that emerged after the lion census is very encouraging. He spoke about how the Lion Census was conducted, in 11 districts in an area of ​​35 thousand square kilometres. For the census, the teams monitored these areas round the clock. Both verification and cross verification were done in this entire campaign which enabled the counting of lions to be completed with precision. Mr Modi noted that the rise in the population of the Asiatic Lion shows that a sense of ownership in the society leads to results. He added that during this time, Gujarat became the first state where women were appointed as Forest Officers on a large scale. He also stressed on the need to remain vigilant and alert for wildlife protection.

Speaking about the recently organised Rising  North East Summit, the Prime Minister said the North East is extraordinary.  He mentioned Crafted Fibers, saying it is a beautiful confluence of Sikkim’s tradition, the art of weaving, and fashion. Crafted Fibers was started by a person who is a veterinarian by profession. He connected traditional weaving with modern fashion and turned it into a social enterprise. Now,  he provides skill training to local people, making them self-reliant. Crafted Fibers’ shawls, stoles, gloves, and socks are made by local handloom. The wool used is obtained from the rabbits and sheep of Sikkim. The colors are also completely natural with no chemicals. Prime Minister praised Dr. Bhutia for lending a new identity to the traditional weaving and culture of Sikkim.

In today’s episode, Mr Modi also mentioned 65 year old Jeevan Joshi from Haldwani, Uttarakhand. During childhood, polio affected his legs but his imagination led him to creating beautiful art pieces from the dry bark of pine trees. Mr Modi said artists like Jeevan Joshi remind people that nothing is impossible with a strong will.

Touching upon the subject of Drone Didis, Prime Minister said women in Sangareddy district of Telangana are spraying pesticides on 50 acres of land with the help of drones. Now, these women are not known as ‘drone operators’ but as ‘sky warriors’.

International Yoga Day’ will be celebrated on the 21st of June. Prime Minister said this occasion reminds everyone to incorporate yoga in their daily lives.  He observed that this year as well, the zeal and enthusiasm among people all over the world with regard to ‘Yoga Day’ is amply visible. Myriad institutions are sharing their preparations. Prime Minister highlighted that during these years, people made Yoga Chain or Yoga Ring. There are many pictures which depict four generations doing yoga together. Many people have chosen iconic places in their city for yoga. Mr Modi urged people to celebrate Yoga Day in an interesting way this time.

Prime Minister also informed that the  government of Andhra Pradesh has started YogAndhra Abhiyan. Its objective is to develop yoga culture in the entire state. Under this campaign, a pool of 10 lakh people practising yoga is being created.

The Prime Minister said he will participate in the ‘Yoga Day’ program in Visakhapatnam this year. He expressed happiness that this time as well, youth is going to perform yoga at iconic places related to Indian heritage. Many youth have pledged to create a record and become a part of the Yoga Chain. Mr Modi also praised the efforts of corporates. Some institutions have set aside a separate place for yoga practice in their offices. Some start-ups have set up ‘office yoga hours’. There are also people who are preparing to go to villages and teach yoga. Prime Minister expressed joy at this awareness about health and fitness.

On the topic of Ayurveda, Prime Minister shared that an MoU was signed in the presence of WHO Director General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus yesterday. Along with this agreement, work has started on a dedicated traditional medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions. This initiative will help in making AYUSH reach maximum number of people across the world in a scientific manner.

Prime Minister also spoke about ‘sugar boards’ being installed in some schools.  The aim of this unique initiative of CBSE is to make children aware of their sugar intake. Mr Modi hailed this unique effort, saying it will prove to be very helpful in inculcating healthy lifestyle habits in children. He stated that Fit India is the foundation of a strong India.

Prime Minister spoke about cleanliness and cited an example of members of ITBP team. This team went to climb the world’s most difficult peak, Mount Makalu. At the same time, they added another mission of ‘cleanliness’ to their goal. They took up the task of removing the garbage lying near the peak. Mr Modi expressed awe that the members of this team brought down more than 150 kg of non-biodegradable waste.

Prime Minister also spoke about paper waste and recycling in this episode of Mann Ki Baat. He said that a fourth of the country’s landfill waste is related to paper. He stressed the need for every person to think about paper recycling, saying many Indian Start-Ups are doing excellent work in this sector. In cities like Visakhapatnam and Gurugram, many Start-Ups are adopting innovative methods of paper recycling. Some are making packaging boards from recycled paper, and others are making newspaper recycling easier through digital methods. In cities like Jalna, some Start-Ups are making packaging rolls and paper cores from 100 percent recycled material. Prime Minister said that recycling one ton of paper saves 17 trees from being cut and saves thousands of litres of water. He urged citizens to contribute to recycling by separating paper in homes and offices.

Prime Minister stated that the Khelo India Games were a big hit. Five cities of Bihar hosted the Khelo India games. Mr Modi said that over five thousand athletes reached Bihar from all over India. These athletes have praised the sporting spirit of Bihar and the warmth shown by the people there. Prime Minister congratulated all the medal winners, especially the top three winners – Maharashtra, Haryana and Rajasthan. He said a total of 26 records were made in Khelo India Games this time.

Prime Minister praised the performances of Asmita Dhone of Maharashtra, Harshvardhan Sahu of Odisha and Tushar Chaudhary of Uttar Pradesh in the Weight Lifting competitions. Sairaj Pardesi of Maharashtra went on to create three records. In athletics, Qadir Khan and Sheikh Zeeshan of Uttar Pradesh and Hansraj of Rajasthan performed brilliantly. Mr Modi highlighted that Bihar also won 36 medals this time. He said that such events will further enhance the future of Indian sports.

World Bee Day was celebrated on the 20th of May.  Prime Minister said this day is also an example of health, self-employment and self-reliance. He observed that during the last 11 years, a sweet revolution has taken place in beekeeping in India. About a decade ago, honey production in India was around 70-75 thousand metric tons a year. Mr Modi expressed happiness that today, it has gone up to around 1.25 lakh metric tons. This is an increase of about 60 percent in honey production. India has become one of the leading countries in the world in honey production and export. Mr Modi said National Beekeeping and ‘Honey Mission’ have a big role in this positive impact. Under this, thousands of farmers associated with beekeeping were imparted training, equipment and their direct access to the market was created.

Prime Minister gave the example of Korea district of Chhattisgarh, where tribal farmers have created a pure organic honey brand named ‘Sonhani’. This honey is being sold on many online portals including GeM. Mr Modi said the hard work of the village is now going global. He also said that thousands of women and youth in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal and Arunachal Pradesh have become honey entrepreneurs. He noted that some start-ups are now certifying the quality of honey with AI and digital technology. He urged people to try the honey made by these honey entrepreneurs. He asked listeners  to buy honey from local farmers and women entrepreneurs.

Mr Modi opined that protection of honeybees is  protection of environment, as well as protection of nation’s agriculture and future generations. He mentioned Amit from Pune who formed a team named Bee Friends. These Bee Friends transfer beehives from one place to another in a safe manner, so that people are not in danger and the honeybees also stay alive.
