According to media sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 19th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Monday from Bhagalpur, Bihar. The scheme provides six thousand rupees annually to landholding farmers in three equal instalments.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said the day of the release will be celebrated as Kisan Samman Samaroh to create awareness about the schemes of the central and state governments. He said more than 9.8 crore farmers across the country will receive financial assistance of over 22 thousand crore rupees through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Mr. Chauhan said that farmer welfare is the top priority of the Modi government. He said, more than 3.46 lakh crore rupees have been disbursed so far to more than 11 crore farmer families in the country under the PM-KISAN scheme. Mr. Chouhan mentioned that programs will also be organized in 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras across the country. The minister said approximately two and a half crore farmers will join the program physically and virtually.
