According to media sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s resolve to give a befitting response to any terror organization challenging the nation’s security. He was addressing the Constitution Day celebrations at the Supreme Court this evening. Mr Modi said, while India is commemorating this important festival of democracy, the nation cannot forget that today is also the anniversary of the terror attack in Mumbai. He paid tribute to those who lost their lives in this attack. The Prime Minister said that the Constitution has lived up to every expectation and need of the country and serves as the guiding light for citizens.
Mr. Modi said that the Constitution is the guide for the nation’s present and future. He noted that over the last 75 years, whenever challenges have arisen, the Constitution has provided the right path to resolve them. The Prime Minister said, that during this period, a time like an emergency also came, and the Constitution faced this challenge as well. Mr. Modi remarked that for the first time today, Constitution Day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that India is undergoing a significant phase of transformation, and the Constitution of India continues to illuminate the way forward.
Mr Modi said that every citizen of the country shares the singular goal of building a developed India. He added that the country is focusing on enhancing the ease of living for its citizens. Citing an example, he mentioned that in the past, senior citizens had to physically visit banks to prove they were alive in order to receive their pensions. However, today, they can use the Digital Life Certificate facility from their homes. Mr. Modi noted that around 1.5 crore senior citizens have benefited from this initiative.
The Prime Minister remarked that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution, a milestone of immense pride for the nation. He expressed reverence for the Constitution and the members of the Constituent Assembly. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also released the Annual Report of the Indian Judiciary 2023-24.
