According to media sources, President Droupadi Murmu took a 25-minute sortie in a Rafale fighter aircraft from the Ambala Air Force Station in Haryana today, marking another milestone in her role as Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces.
The Rafale, piloted by Group Captain Amit Gehani, flew at an altitude of around 15,000 feet and at a speed of about 700 km per hour. The aircraft covered nearly 200 kilometers before safely returning to base.
President Murmu is the first President of the country to fly in two fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force. She earlier took a sortie in a Sukhoi-30 MKI in 2023. After the flight, President Murmu described it an unforgettable experience.
