According to media sources, Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth today visited the flood-affected areas in Amritsar and interacted with the affected farmers and residents of the areas to assess the situation. The Minister, who is visiting various flood-affected areas for the last two days said that the situation is serious as the standing crop has been damaged and farmers may not be able to grow anything soon.
He said the Centre is standing with Punjab to take the state out of this trying time so it again moves forward on the path of progress. He said the Prime Minister is continuously monitoring the situation.
He appreciated the BSF which is securing the border round the clock despite their own posts got inundated.
