According to the media sources, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das says, “As far as inflation is concerned, the latest inflation print that was released for the month of July, the inflation rate was high at 7.4 per cent. It has taken everyone by surprise but we were expecting the inflation to be substantially higher because of vegetable prices due to unseasonal rain. The tomato prices went by more than 200 per cent & then the impact of the rise in tomato prices spread to other vegetables…We expect the vegetable price which has gone up to moderate from September.”
