Goa Airport has recently achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first international airport in the Asia Pacific region to be served by a GAGAN based Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach. Goa airport is also the first joint user airport of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) in India to adopt this advanced navigation system. LPV is developed by AAI experts from Flight Procedure Design Directorate. The LPV is similar to the Instrument Landing System ILS approach but without any ground based Landing Aid. It’s a satellite based approach.
